Position Abstracts

Q:  How can I submit a Position Abstract? What template should I use for my Position Abstract? 
A: Please refer to this PAGE for guidance which provides a template in Microsoft Word format. As applicable, submit your Position Abstract in EasyChair using the link provided.

Q: Are there guidelines or a specific format for the Position Abstract?
A: Please refer to this PAGE for guidance, including some suggested questions to consider or points you may wish to make.

Q:  When will I know if I am selected to receive a travel stipend?
A: You will receive a confirmation by e-mail and subsequently a decision no later than 1 week after the deadline, including if applicable a travel stipend award letter, directions, and a link to complete your registration to attend.

Registration

Q: How do I register? Is there a registration fee?
A: The link for registration will be emailed to you after we receive your Expertise Profile and Position Abstract (if you are submitting a Position Abstract). This workshop has no registration fee for anyone and it is open to everyone who has registered to attend.

Q: How can I receive a list of participants and more details in advance of the workshop?
A: A list of participants for each track will be posted on this website approximately one month in advance of the workshop. Updates will be posted on social media channels and at the Agenda menu item on this website.

Logistics and Attendance

Q:  When and where will the workshop take place?
A: The workshop will take place on March 31st - April 2nd, 2019 at the University of Central Florida (UCF) main campus located in Orlando, Florida. The workshop will be convene each day at the times stated in the Agenda in the UCF building called the "Morgridge International Reading Center" which a map is available HERE.

Q: What hotel should I stay at during the conference? 
A: The Workshop has arranged with La Quinta UCF for a block of rooms at a discounted rate:

Workshop rate will be $99/night via rooms reserved for Organization/Group Name: "UCF - NSF Digitally Mediated Team" which to receive that rate, it is necessary to call the hotel directly at 407-737-6075, speak to the front desk (option 5), and mention the group block. Otherwise, if press the prompt for reservations, then will not speak with the hotel itself as is needed for block rate. Also, web-based reservations may not obtain the discounted block rate so please call instead.
Each attendee should make their own room reservation, guarantee it with their own credit card, and pay the entire bill upon checkout. This hotel is located approximately 1-mile from the workshop location and we will operate some morning/evening shuttle service to/from hotel/Morgridge International Reading Center building.
Alternately, you may stay at any area lodging of your choice, however, there is no on-campus lodging available for attendees.

Payment of Travel Stipend

Q: Is there funding available to help to defray the expense of attending?
A: Yes, There are 50 travel stipends available which are competitive. Please see this PAGE for details. 

Q: Am I eligible to apply for a travel stipend?
A: Travel funds are available for U.S. citizens who have submitted a Position Abstract prior to the deadline for consideration listed on this PAGE. Travel stipends are competitive and recipients will be selected by the workshop's program committee. Recipients will received directions on how to receive and utilize the stipend via email upon their selection.

Dissemination and Publications

Q: Will there be a publication associated with the workshop?
A: A White Paper on digitally-mediated team learning will be produced and delivered to NSF after the workshop. Workshop participants will be identified within this White Paper. Follow-on activities may lead to additional scholarly publications as agreed/arranged during/after the workshop. 

Q: Will there be a Proceedings document associated with the workshop?
The workshop does not have a published proceedings in printed or electronic format, however Position Abstracts will be posted online which can be cited via weblink and there will be an optional poster session for those choosing to participate, as listed HERE.
